Monthly Programming
Take a walk through the galleries with the Curator and get a behind-the-scenes look into one of our current exhibitions.
Featuring scholars from around the country, the lectures are selected to provide supplemental information on our current exhibits or to highlight the history and heritage of the mountains.
Movies at the Museum features films by North Carolina filmmakers, films about the arts, and about the history and culture of the Appalachian region.
In an effort to keep our audiences engaged and expand upon our current exhibition offerings BRAHM is starting a book club! The club will meet on the last Thursday of each month at 6 pm over zoom. The club meetings will be led by BRAHM programs & outreach director Willard Watson III and will feature guest speakers from time to time.
BRAHM's new online continuing education series for adults and teens, Create-in-Common will help you shed those quarantine blues. These classes will meet virtually 4 times over the course of a month and provide wonderful introduction in a new medium or inspiration for your favorite methods of making art.

Hands-On Offerings
Workshops for Adults
Create art in a relaxed atmosphere facilitated by various local artists and art instructors. Each participant goes home with a finished work of art.
Offering a variety of studio workshops for adults with differing skill levels. Learn from guest instructors utilizing a variety of mediums.
A series of hands-on workshops with Southern Highland Craft Guild artists and artisans. Each workshop features a different artist and medium. Pre-registration for workshops is required.

BRAHM summer art camps are back! Your budding artist aged 7-12 is invited to join us for these fun filled 3-day, 4-hour camps.
These kits are a great way to create with your visiting grandchildren or help keep the kids out of working parents’ hair for a week of daily activities. Each kit includes all art materials needed, detailed instructions and visuals. Order online for contactless pickup at BRAHM.

Process-based art activities plus storytime!
A community outreach program designed to augment the art curriculum for kindergartners through fourth graders at Blowing Rock Elementary School.
BRAHM is proud to offer a Free Field Trip Program for public and home schools in Watauga, Ashe, Avery, and Caldwell counties. A limited number of reimbursements for school bus transportation are available for Watauga County schools that receive Title I funding, thanks to a grant from St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church.
Each year, BRAHM offers several free, family-friendly days of fun, education, and celebration. Including our holiday open house, spooky stories & creepy crafts, and arctic art at BrrrRAHM.
Travel
Every year BRAHM offers several opportunities for our members and friends to travel with us to various cultural hot-spots on the East Coast. With tours of museums, galleries, and private collections often led by curators and collectors, these trips are not to be missed. Early registration is offered to our Society Level Members first. General registration for all BRAHM patrons is available several months before the trip date.

Make time for yourself on Wednesday evenings for a weekly mindfulness and meditation Group. The gatherings will explore meditation, mindfulness and consciousness. Combining years of meditation practice experience with his lifelong passion of living in service to others, Eric Devrie will be guiding the weekly meditation group.

Hundreds of thousands of artifacts have been raised from the shipwreck of Queen Anne’s Revenge since full excavation began in 2005. Kimberly Kenyon of the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology is the lead archaeologist for the site of Blackbeard’s infamous flagship, formerly the slave ship La Concorde.
Join us on Friday, May 3, 2025 for a discussion between Artist Sarah Vaughn and Reverend Andrew Hege about the significance and symbolism in both of their work.

Ready to start a new project? Why not try some winter weather items for folks heavily affected by the storm?
Join artist in residence Sarah Vaughn for a drop-in event creating needle-felted stones like those featured in her current BRAHM installation, Considerations. Throughout the last week of April interact with the artist during her residency week as she adds to the exhibition. To create your own felted stone, head down to the Wilson Education Center between 2:00 and 4:00 pm on Saturday. All materials and instructions provided. Recommended for ages 10+

In this workshop, students will learn how to knit, read a pattern, design a project. Students will gain basic skills to be able to knit at home.
Join us for an exhibition reception as we celebrate the art created by every kindergarten through 4th grader at Blowing Rock School. Free and open to the public. You'll get to meet some of the young artists and see their work. This event is sponsored by the Blowing Rock Community Foundation.
