Studio Saturdays: Arab American Heritage Month Edition

Pattern & Geometry: Drawing & Collage Inspired by Islamic Art

Youth aged 12-18 are invited to join us at BRAHM every second Saturday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm this winter and spring for directed studio time inspired by famous artists. Explore new styles and processes for making art. Meet new friends and express your creative side. Free for the community. Reservations encouraged.

The term Islamic art not only describes the art created in the service of the Muslim faith, but the art and architecture historically produced in the lands ruled by Muslims, produced for Muslim patrons, or created by Muslim artists. Islam fostered the development of a distinctive culture with its own unique artistic language. The four basic components of Islamic ornament are calligraphy, vegetal patterns, geometric patterns, and figural representation. Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month and the elegance of Muslim mathematical designs through painting and collage.
