BRAHM invites performers to respond to our exhibitions in a series we’re naming Called to Response. This month we welcome singer-songwriter Noan Partly to respond to Field Studies.
This program is presented free to the public through the generosity of the Bryant and Nancy Hanley Foundation.
About the Exhibition
Field Studies is a group exhibition that considers how artists develop knowledge through sustained attention to the places they inhabit. Rooted in the landscapes and lived environments of Southern Appalachia and the Mountain South, the exhibition reflects practices shaped by observation, familiarity, and long-term engagement rather than distant survey. Informed by ideas of foraging and finding, multiple ways of knowing, and an expansive documentary impulse, Field Studies frames art-making as a process of looking closely at home—where meaning emerges gradually through presence, repetition, and lived experience.
About the Artist
Self Taught, Oklahoma-native Noan Partly performs dexterous fingerpicked instrumentation, coupled with lucid- resonant vocals, delivering feel good covers and originals dipped in warm soulful grooves. She is currently attaining a Masters in Music Therapy at Appalachian State and will drop her 2nd full length album in the Fall of this year.
