Plein Air Basics

During this three-day workshop, emphasis will be on painting spontaneously and loosely while pushing the limits of basic principles of composition, design, and color. Light & shadow, values, shapes, design, perspective, edges, and color will be discussed. Emphasis will be on exploring methods for improvement rather than changing individual styles.

Get out of your “comfort zone” and challenge yourself to experiment and see things from a new perspective. Take your paintings to the next level in a fun and relaxed atmosphere during this three day workshop.

Instruction will be with oils and gouache, however all mediums are welcome.

This group is for intermediate to advanced painters. There is another group for beginner painters. There will be demos and lectures each day with time to paint as well as one-on-one and group critiques and discussions.

Katie will be working in oils or gouache but all mediums are welcome.
