| Description: | Bill Leslie, Emmy Award-winning journalist and acclaimed musician and composer, will be the featured speaker at the last Third Thursday lecture of the season at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum on October 18. Leslie is a veteran anchorman and environmental reporter for WRAL television in Raleigh, as well as an authority on modern Celtic music. This combination of interests and passions will provide the basis for his talk at the museum. In 2008, Leslie authored a book, "Blue Ridge Reunion," featuring watercolors of Western North Carolina that had been painted by his father who died suddenly when Bill was only 16. The 124 page coffee table book is packaged with a companion CD. By working with these treasured paintings and composing songs, essays, and poems to accompany them, Leslie was able to find a powerful connection with his father. "Blue Ridge Reunion" opens a window to the soul of Western North Carolina. The Third Thursday series is partially sponsored by First Citizens Bank. The lecture begins at 4 pm in the BRAHM Community Meeting Room. Refreshments will be served following the event. Admission is free for members and $5 for guests. Seating is limited. |
