About the Instructors

Emily Daughtridge has been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching yoga professionally since 2008. She earned her 220-hour Yoga Alliance teaching certification through Neighborhood Yoga of Boone.  Emily’s continuing yoga studies have led her to destinations across the country and across the world to India.  She views yoga as the practice of balancing self-effort and yielding to unite body, mind and spirit, thus allowing us to live more fully and compassionately as our best selves.   Emily’s yoga experience and knowledge of the body/mind connection have been additionally supported by her years in the dance field as performer and teacher.  She is an Associate Professor of Dance Studies at Appalachian State University, where she teaches Modern dance technique, Yoga, Choreography, Collaborative Process, among other courses, and choreographs for the Appalachian Dance Ensemble.  Emily earned her M.F.A. in Dance Performance from The Ohio State University and her B.F.A. in Choreography and Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Krystle Winnie has been practicing yoga for over three years. She began after a search for a practice that could help balance her everyday life and anxieties. She completed her 200-hour training at Neighborhood Yoga in Boone. She believes that the practice of yoga is a great way to unite ourselves with our inner compass and is a way to build strength to rise to our fullest potential and grow in whatever stage of life that we are in. She is passionate about encouraging people to explore, grow, and live happy and healthy lifestyles and she enjoys traveling, exploring new and healthy foods, hiking, gardening, being, loving, and discovering new forms of healthy recreation.
