10:00 am - 4:00 pm, 30 min lunch break

All levels adults.

Discover the process of creating expressive and loose artwork in your choice of watercolor or acrylic media. Gain confidence in painting any subject- from landscapes to portraits and figures - capturing mood, atmosphere and feeling in a bold and impressionist style. Explore different techniques in painting and focus on color palette, values and composition. Discover how to use texture and basic principles in painting water, sky, ground, buildings, faces and figures. Create focus in your painting to captivate the viewer and learn how to keep your painting fresh and spontaneous. Learn loosening brushwork, elements of design, elements of light and shadow, the power of suggestion and finally painting how you see versus just copying a photograph. The focus will be on techniques, principles of perspective and good composition in creating dynamic artwork.

Lyudmila’s loose and demonstrative style will inspire you to take the water-based mediums to their full capacity. She will do 2 quick demos in watercolor and acrylic. The students may use their own photo references or choose from many dramatic images provided.

Learn how to “make your artwork interesting and engaging” bringing intrigue and life to your work. Starting with a preliminary composition with intentional brush strokes and handling of color, you’ll acquire valuable skills in how to interpret your photo reference without being literal. The workshop is a lot of fun and packed with valuable information.
